Ujjain, Feb 24: The Madhya Pradesh administration today issued a directive to ''send to Bhopal'' four police officers, including a superintendent, posted in this temple town which is to be the venue of the Simhasth Mela. District Superintendent Upendra Jain named the foursome as city police superintendent (Madhavnagar) Pramod Verma, deputy SP Atul Singh, town inspector R B Dikshit and transport inspector Vijay David.
Yesterday, the Bharatiya Janata Party staged a sit-in, demonstration and raised slogans for removal of these officials and even faxed a memorandum to Chief Minister Uma Bharti.
Curfew was clamped at sensitive places within seven police station areas here following tension, on February 21, over removal of encroachments in view of the mela. Due to the rapidly-improving situation, curfew has been relaxed until 2100 hrs today.
