Mumbai, Oct 22: Maintaining that the NCP has always
welcomed alliance of secular parties, Maharashtra NCP
president R R Patil today said that his party will not beg for
for an alliance.
"We will not take a bowl in front of anyone for forming
an alliance," he told reporters.
Since the Congress has decided to fight the coming civic elections in three districts of Washim, Nandurbar and Dhule on its own, the NCP will go it alone in the civic polls, he said.
He declined to comment on the recent controversy over the foreign origin issue of Congress President Sonia Gandhi saying NCP chief Sharad Pawar has clarified his stand on it.
The decision of a pre-poll alliance between the Congress and NCP would be taken at higher level and it would depend on the senior party leaders, Patil said.
Pawar had proposed a pre-poll alliance with the Congress in the assembly elections next year.
