Bhopal, July 05: Stating that the time has come for Congressmen to replace words with action, senior party leader Aslam Sher Khan today said there is a need for the party to stand strongly and unitedly behind its president Sonia Gandhi who should be projected as the prime ministerial candidate. "If the party has to survive and succeed, it must rise above narrow politics. There should be no ifs and buts in the minds of the congressmen about projecting Gandhi as the prime ministerial candidate", Khan told a news agency here.

Congress was a party which has grown in eminence and size through efforts and sacrifices, he said adding, its values and strict adherence to these values specially to uplift the weak and down-trodden gave it a place in the hearts of all Indians. Khan said he had recently written a letter to all Congress MPs, CWC members and office bearers to throw light within so that "we can clearly see that our own weaknesses, inaptitude, infighting and our own power craze have been the reasons for our failure".
