Srinagar, Feb 20: Four civilians were killed and four others injured when militants exploded an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) at main chowk of Baramulla district in north Kashmir today, official sources said. Four civilians were killed in the explosion that took place at around 11 am at Tehsil Chowk in Baramulla, the sources said.
Four persons were injured in the blast, they said adding that three of them were shifted to a hospital in Srinagar in a critical condition.

The site of the blast falls on the Srinagar-Uri National Highway which is extensively used by security forces convoys.

Senior police officials of Baramulla district have rushed to the spot, the sources said.

The deceased have been identified as Haji Ghulam Mohammad Najar of Uri, Mohammad Sultan Najar, Mushtaq Nabi Wani and Mir Umar, all residents of Baramulla town, the sources said.
