Bhubaneswar, Sept 06: Noted cine actress and chairperson of the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) Hema Malini today blamed the actresses more than the film makers for controversies relating to their alleged exploitation.
"It is the actress who allows herself to get into such trouble and therefore should not complain about being exploited", she told newsmen here.
Hema Malini, who is now on a visit to Orissa, was reacting to the recent controversy over the use of certain objectionable scenes involving Manisha Koirala in ‘Ek chhotisi love story.’

It all depended on them (actresses).... How they project themselves, she said.

Stating that she herself did not face this kind of problems, Hema Malini said you must know where to draw a line.
Asked as to whether the actresses were victims of a system or the producers were acting smart, she said it was the artistes themselves. Why should you accept such kind of films and then get into trouble.

The actress should be very clear in her mind about the kind of script and the film she was getting involved in.
May be that the story demands such a thing... So knowingly if the artiste is willing to do (the scene) then should do it full-fledged. Then why blame others ?, she said.

In an obvious reference to Manisha approaching different organisations to stop screening of the film, Hema Malini said instead of going to all sorts of places to seek justice, the actresses need to get together and find out what should be done to protect their interest and dignity.
