Beijing, Nov 23: The Indian wool industry is keen to import cashmere yarn from China while exporting a variety of wool felt to the Chinese market which is witnessing a steady growth. A high-level Indian wool industry delegation led by the India Wool and Woollen Export Promotion Council chairman, D K Verma which visited Chinese cities, including Beijing and Shanghai, have had constructive discussions with the China Woollen Industry Association as well as over 30 leading Chinese manufacturers.

During the meetings, the Indian wool industry representatives expressed interest in importing cashmere yarn from China, industry sources said, adding that there was "substantive progress in discussions". The two sides which met at a seminar as well as factory visits, also briefed each other on the current situation in their respective wool industry and sought to forge closer cooperation for mutual benefit, sources said.

President of the China Woollen Industry Association, Peng Yanli noted that while the global prospects of the woollen industry is on the decline, the Chinese and Indian wool industry has kept its growth momentum.

"This proves China and India woollen industry are very competitive in world woollen industry," Peng said at a seminar. Bureau Report
