Narrow escape for Kamrup Express passengers
Kolkata July 27: Passenger of the Howrah-Guwahati Kamrup Express had a narrow escape today following timely detection of a rail fracture between Gankar and Jangipur stations in the Azimganj-Barharwa section of Eastern Railway`s Malda division.

ER sources here said that the cabinm an of Gankar station N C Ghosh detected the fracture at 5.30 am and immediately signalled the approaching Kamrup Express to stop.
After the track was repaired, the train was allowed to proceed at 7.13 am in a restricted speed, the sources said, adding that normal traffic in the section resumed from 9 am.
Eyewitnesses, however, claimed that the fracture was first detected by a woman of the locality, Krishna Das, who informed the cabinman.
