Hyderabad, Aug 31: Andhra Pradesh chief minister and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu, who completed eight years as the chief minister today, said he would confine to state politics and has no ambition to "vie for a post in Delhi". "There were two or three occasions when I was rather forcefully asked to accept the Prime Minister's post but I declined the offer as I wanted to confine to the state and there is no change in stance now,” he told reporters in an informal discussion.

Affirming that his priority is development, Naidu said his trend-setting reforms, which included good governance, are being followed by the Centre and other states.

"This is some achievement as Andhra Pradesh could become a role model,” Naidu said.
Reiterating the party's stand on an integrated state, Naidu said, "With 42 MPs in Parliament we have a better bargaining power and can be a real force to reckon with. We will forego this advantage if the state is divided".
Pointing out that Andhra Pradesh has achieved distinction of being "the most happening place in the country", he said his government's achievements include reform works, empowering women, welfare of weaker sections and involvement of people in developmental programmes.
