Meghalaya postal employees on dharna
Shillong, Mar 26: Postal employees across Meghalaya and other northeastern states began a two-day dharna today to protest abolition of posts and decentralisation of recurring deposits without sanction of additional staff.

deposits without sanction of additional staff.
The dharna, being simultaneously held in northeastern circle comprising six states of the region, excluding Assam, was expected to continue tomorrow. Members of the joint council of action of postal employees unions of the northeastern circle demonstrated in front of the general post office here and other sub offices across the state to press for their demands.
The agitating employees would also observe a pen down and tool down strike for an hour on March 28, joint council members said.
The employees also submitted a memorandum to the chief post master general here.
