Kolkata, June 17: The Narcotics Control Bureau today made another search of the sealed ground floor flat of former CBI top brass U N Biswas where a massive drug bust was made on May 19.
NCB assistant director N C Patra said that the search in Biswas' Salt Lake residence was made with court permission "which is a part our current course of investigation process."
Patra said that it was not a raid and preferred to describe it as a 're-search'.
The NCB official said Biswas was not present at the time of 're-search', but his wife was present along with some witnesses. The fresh search was believed to have followed statements by five foreign nationals, three Myanmarese and two Chinese, who were arrested from the flat and now in judicial custody.
Biswas, former CBI additional director (east) who was interrogated twice by the NCB earlier, would be interrogated further 'if required', bureau sources added. The NCB seized 24 kg of a psychotropic substance, Ephedrine Hydrochloride, laboratory equipment for manufacturing ATS (Amphitamine type stimulant), a heroin substitute, fake passports, a mobile phone and other documents on May 19.
