Chennai, June 09: The BJP today asserted it would abide by Prime Minister A B Vajpayee's suggestion that political parties should not get involved in Ayodhya issue but maintained that a temple for Lord Rama be constructed at his birthplace in Ayodhya.
"We will go by the advice of the Prime Minister since he is our leader. We, however, continue to hold the view that a temple for Lord Rama should be constructed at his birth place," BJP president M Venkaiah Naidu told reporters here.
Naidu said he expected "something tangible" to emerge on the contentious issue soon.
On RSS leader K S Sudharshan's remarks that BJP should concentrate on its ideology and not on personality cult, Naidu said Sudharshan had stated that there was nothing wrong in projecting a leader during elections.
He said Vajpayee would lead the BJP and NDA in the next Lok Sabha elections.
Denying a rift among the BJP leadership, he said: "It is all a media creation. There is no rift. We are all one."
