Hazaribag (Jharkhand), June 29: Security of two judges of additional district and session's courts of Hazaribag and Garwah in Jharkhand has been beefed up after the two in separate judgments awarded death sentences to seven MCC and People's War ultras recently.
Hazaribag's additional district and session's judge Ashok K Chand had on June 16 awarded death sentence to three MCC ultras and life imprisonment to 20 others in the Beltu massacre case.
Garwah additional district and session's judge (fast track) Deepak Nath Tiwari sentenced to death four PW cadres for their role in the murder of three persons at Meral village. Five policemen were now guarding him, sources said.
Said Hazaribag superintendent of police Anurag Gupta: "Extra security has been provided to the judge (Chand) and his family. The police were also keeping a strict vigil on the ultras''.
Gupta denied media reports that Chand had received threats after his judgment and that his daughter had stopped going to school.
However, a daily said Chand had informed the Jharkhand high court's chief justice that following threats from the Naxalites, his daughter had stopped attending her classes.
Meanwhile, the MCC had stuck anti-judicial posters at several places under Simaria police station in Chatra district in protest against the order, the police officer said.
In Garwah, one of the posters read ''yadi phansi lagaoge to usme khud jhul jaoge (this noose would squeeze your neck)", eye witnesses said.
