New Delhi, Dec 03: NDMC has disconnected electricity for 13 MPs of various political parties for their failure to clear dues running into lakhs of rupees despite repeated reminders and notices, the Delhi High Court was informed today. "We have disconnected the electricity supply of 13 MPs - 11 from Lok Sabha and two from Rajya Sabha - against whom arrears exceeded Rs one lakh," NDMC counsel Hima Kohli informed a bench of Chief Justice B C Patel and Justice A K Sikri.
She, however, clarified that the electricity connections of four MPs were restored after they deposited a sizeable portion of the amount due from them.
The MPs whose electricity connections were cut off are- Raghuvansh Prasad Singh (RJD), Jai Narain Prasad (JD-U rebel), Vilas Muttemwar, S Venugopalachari, N Janardhana Reddy (all Congress), Ramakrishan Kusmaria and Kirti Azad (BJP), Balram Singh Yadav and Dharam Pal Yadav (SP), K Yerannaidu (TDP), Ram Chander Paswan (LJP), Rajesh Ranjan (independent) and Pritish Nandy (Shiv Sena).
However, the electricity connections of Venugopalachari, Paswan, Dharam Pal Yadav, and Azad were restored as they paid substantial amounts, NDMC informed the court. Bureau Report
