Shimla, Sept 14: Former Himachal Pradesh chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal and former health minister J P Nadda were responsible for various irregularities and scams in the health department during the BJP rule, industries minister Ram Lal Thakur today alleged. Addressing a press conference here, Thakur, who held health portfolio in the previous Virbhadra Singh government, said the Vigilance Department had asked for a go ahead to probe into irregular purchase of machinery worth Rs five crore in the Tanda Medical College which was not needed immediately.

He alleged that Dhumal did not give permission to vigilance department to register case into the irregular purchase of machinery as it could affect the report of the Medical Council of India whose team was coming for inspection. Thakur said that during his term as health minister doctors from outside were appointed specially from Punjab when terrorism was at its peak there and no doctors was available in the state. He however, pointed that Dhumal government appointed doctors on contract when more then 200 unemployed doctors were available in the state.

He also alleged that doctors from outside whose degrees were not recoganised were given appointment.

Thakur accused the Dhumal government and former health minister Nadda of surrendering rupees nine crores which were earmarked for setting up diagnostic centres.
