Lucknow, Sept 27: Flood fury continued in parts of Uttar Pradesh where it has claimed a total of 875 lives so far and affected a population of over 1.20 crores. An official release said that 2,270 villages are marooned and 2,759 cattleheads have perished in the floods till now. The government has disbursed relief worth Rs12 crores for damage to life and property and shifted over 2.36 lakh people to safer areas. Though the state experienced scanty rainfall during the last 24 hours, all the major rivers including Ganga, Sai, Ghaghra and Sharda were still flowing above the red mark. Teams have been set up to disburse relief material while separate teams of doctors will visit the flood hit areas to check the spread of infectious diseases, the release added.
