Siliguri (West Bengal), July 26: All Naxalite factions would be merged to launch a "real" and revolutionary communist party in the country, a veteran Naxalite leader said today.
"All factions having faith in communism would attend a six-day meet in Kolkata starting from August two to thrash out modalities for formal amalgamation", the general secretary of the Communist Organisation of India (Marxist-Leninist), Kanu Sanyal told newsmen.
The meet would also select a name for the proposed new communist party and draft its constitution, Sanayal, the legendary Naxalite leader, said.
Claiming that common people were fast losing faith and respect in communism due to partisan role played by the left front governments, he said that the new communist party's first target would be to restore people's confidence in their ideology and oppose the wrong economic policies of the NDA government at the centre.
He alleged that the CPI-M led Left Front government in West Bengal was out to seize trade union rights of workers and instead protect interests of investors under the pretext of bipartite agreements.
