New Delhi, Oct 08: Taking strong exception to BSP leader Mayawati's criticism of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and BJP, the party today said it was "highly irresponsible and motivated" and "only showed the frame of mind she is in". "Mayawati's statements against the prime minister and BJP is highly irresponsible and motivated. After all, the raids at her residence by CBI was carried out at the directive of the Supreme Court and the investigating agency is directly reporting to the apex court," party spokesman Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi told reporters here.
He said even though the party did not take the charges made by her seriously, the BSP leader's statements were condemnable and "her dignity would be further eroded by such statements". On her statement that Rs 5 lakh recovered from one of her residences was only the money given by poor people to provide medical care to party leader Kanshiram, Naqvi said, "It is not proper to try and make political capital out of a person's illness. We are as much concerned about his illness as she is." Describing CBI's action of filing FIR against her and seven others as "politically motivated", Mayawati had yesterday accused Vajpayee of "misusing" the agency for political purposes against her to pressurise BSP to bail out BJP in the next assembly polls.
