Bhubaneswar, July 26: A 'Peace Park' would come up at the Dhauli hills near here, where the historic Kalinga war was believed to have been fought, and the Centre has promised all assistance for the project, official sources said today. The Union Tourism minister Jagmohan has written a letter to Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik promising all possible assistance for the park, sources said. Jagmohan said the Centre would appoint an internationally known consultant to prepare a master plan. A meeting would be convened at Delhi soon to decide on the quantum of central assistance for the project, the letter said. The Dhauli hills, on the outskirts of the city, has immense historical importance as historians believe that the famous Kalinga war was fought between the people of ancient Kalinga and emperor Ashoka's army at this place. It was also the scene where Ashoka embraced Buddhism.
