IAF celebrates 71st anniversary
Mumbai, Oct 12: A commemorative function marking the 71st anniversary of the Indian Air Force was held at United Services Club at Colaba in south Mumbai last evening.
Mumbai, Oct 12: A commemorative function marking the 71st anniversary of the Indian Air Force was held at United Services Club at Colaba in south Mumbai last evening.
A film, giving vivid insight into the full spectrum of IAF operations ranging from fighter aircraft, the cutting edge of the IAF, to the transport and helicopter operations that
constitute a veritable life line to even civil authorities, was shown on the occasion, a defence release said here today.
The IAF is a vital component of national power that regards professionalism and excellence as the bed rock of its ethos, the release added.
Since its inception, the IAF did commendable job during the Indo-Pak conflicts of 1948, 1965, 1971 and the Kargil war. The IAF acquitted itself admirably in these testing times by meeting the national military objectives.
The IAF today stands as a sentinel, providing the canvas of air defence to the entire country, including Mumbai area and the western coast of India.
The dedication and commitment of the air warriors, the men and women-in-blue, will ensure that the IAF continues to contribute its mite towards nation-building in the new millenium, from both its alma mater, the sky as well as that final frontier-space. The function was attended by Maharashtra Chief Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Chhagan Bhujbal and a host of military and civic dignitaries. Bureau Report
