Patiala, Oct 27: Daler Mehndi fears a threat to his life by the way events unfolded here today when he went to appear before the Patiala Police, his counsel said demanding a CBI probe into the into the case of alleged human trafficking against the Punjabi singer.
Since the case (of illegal human trafficking) was not confined to Patiala alone, it should be handed over to the CBI for an "independent and fair" probe, Ravinder Kumar, a Delhi based advocate said talking to reporters here.
He charged the Punjab police with having "failed to protect his (Daler) life from the mob". The way Daler Mehndi's car was stoned and he was mobbed by the crowd the singer feared a threat to his life, he said.

"Not only his (Daler's) life is in danger even mine and that of another lawyer Anand Parkash accompanying him is threatened", the counsel said.


The stoning of the vehicle, manhandling by the mob and other events threatened not only the singer's life but also of the accompanying lawyers, Ravinder Kumar said adding "we will approach the Delhi High Court and even the Supreme Court, if need be." The lawyer came out of the police station, spoke to the media and went inside even as mehndi was being questioned.

Daler Mehndi furnished a surety of Rs five lakh as directed by the Delhi High Court for the 10-day interim bail.
