New Delhi, Aug 04: Hurriyat Conference today said that it was examining "certain ideas" which could lead to a "durable, honourable and acceptable" solution to the vexed
Kashmir problem between India and Pakistan.
A four-member delegation led by its chairman Maulana Abbas Ansari today met the Ram Jethmalani-led Kashmir Committee and took stock of the situation.
"We have agreed to help consolidate the process to settle problems and issues facing the region in a peaceful manner," former chairman Abdul Gani Bhat told the reporters after a 90-minute long meeting with the Kashmir Committee.
He said that the two sides reiterated their views that "violence in any form should end" and urged the two countries to rise above their traditional positions and help in solving the issue, which has led to three wars in the past.
"We have informed the Kashmir Committee that Hurriyat Conference is currently examining ideas which would lead to a concrete solution of the Kashmir issue - a solution that would be durable, honourable and acceptable to India, Pakistan and the people of Jammu and Kashmir," Bhat said.

The former chairman said that the Hurriyat Conference would articulate these ideas to Kashmir Committee at a meeting which would be held once its three member team returned from a visit to Pakistan.
The Kashmir Committee team led by Jethmalani includes Dileep Padgaonkar and M J Akbar. The team is scheduled to leave for Islamabad on August 9.
