New Delhi, Nov 15: In a jolt to Digvijay Singh government in Madhya Pradesh, the Election Commission today ordered 100 per cent deployment of polling staff from outside in all the assembly constituencies of Rewa district, the home turf of assembly Speaker Srinivas Tiwari.
The Commission took the decision in view of large scale
complaints about "bias" of the local staff, EC sources said.
A communication to this effect has been sent to the Madhya Pradesh chief electoral officer (CEO).
Tiwari represents Mangawan, which is among the eight assembly constituencies in the district.
Early this week, the commission had ordered removal of as many as 21,815 names from voters list of Mangawa assembly constituency as they were found to be "not residents" of the area.
Detection of the "voters" who were not ordinarily residents of the area was made after the commission got a special verification done from October 28 till yesterday, EC sources said.
The commission had earlier received certain complaints from political parties about addition of names in the high-profile constituency in the state which is going to polls on December one.
