Mumbai, June 27: Top riders in the country, including defending champion Manjit Singh Bassan and dirt track champion Rustom Patel, will vie for top honours in the Gulf Monsoon Scooter Rally, to be held here on July 5-6.
Organising secretary Srikanth Karani told reporters here Wednesday that other prominent riders to participate in the rally from Mumbai to Lonavala, were 60-year-old Kersi Patel, Freddy Elavia, Subodh Sripad Kalan and Nilesh Thakare among others.
"The 110 kms race will be run in two sectors -- competitive (130 kms) and transport (80 kms) -- after starting at MIDC on the Eastern Express Highway and run along the backwoods of Padga in Thane district before terminating at Moonlite Resort", he added.
"The competition would be held in three classes – Class S-1 above 80 up to 110 CC two stroke, Class S-2 above 110 CC up to 160 CC two stroke and upto 160 CC four stroke," Karani said.
"The riders will be timed to a hundredth of a second and the one who accumulates the least number of penalty points will be adjudged the winner," he added.



The organisers are also expecting entries from Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka with a few entries from Nashik and Pune.
