Islamabad, Nov 24: Seeking to address India's
reticence to hold bilateral dialogue on the sidelines of the
Saarc summit here in January, Pakistan today said it has not
asked for any such meeting.
"The Indian leadership need not be worried about
getting dragged into any meeting with Pakistani leadership
during the summit," Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan told
reporters here.
He said Pakistan has not asked for a bilateral meeting with the Indian leadership either, but at the same time Islamabad expected India to commence a dialogue in the interest of peace in the region.
Asked who would take part in the Saarc summit from Pakistan, Khan said it would be Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali. "But the entire government including President Pervez Musharraf would be part of the process," he said without elaborating.
Khan said the main focus of the summit would be to enhance economic, trade and cultural links between the member countries.
