Tyre production dips 3.2% in April
New Delhi, June 18: Domestic tyre production fell by 3.2 per cent in April 2003 as high-volume segments like car, utility vehicle, motorcycle, scooter and tractor tyres recorded a decline in production.
New Delhi, June 18: Domestic tyre production fell by 3.2 per cent in April 2003 as high-volume segments like car, utility vehicle, motorcycle, scooter and tractor tyres recorded a decline in production.
Total production went down to 3.60 million units from 3.72 million tyres in the same month last year, data released by the Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) showed on Tuesday.
Exports also dipped 19.4 per cent year-on-year to 2.08 lakh units from 2.59 lakh units, the data showed.
Production of truck and bus tyres went up by 9 per cent to 7.77 lakh units but passenger car tyres suffered a 7 per cent drop to 5.88 lakh tyres.
For utility-vehicle tyres, there was a marginal 1 per cent dip in production at 1 lakh units while light trucks recorded a 7 per cent increase at 2.19 lakh units.

Exports also dipped 19.4 per cent year-on-year to 2.08 lakh units from 2.59 lakh units, the data showed.
