Kylie is new mascot for British Airways
London, June 11: Aussie chart-topper Kylie Minogue is all set to fly - as the new mascot for British Airways.
"Kylie has been signed as British Airways' new face. They have got her on board to persuade more British people to go on long-haul holidays because the industry has been struggling", an insider at her record company EMI said.
"She will launch the new brochure and her face will appear in campaigns for the airline. Kylie is the ideal choice because she is the perfect antidote to winter gloom". The songstress, 35, who is dating French actor Olivier Martinez, has already appeared in ads for Eurostar.
Evian bought out special limited-edition bottles of water for her Fever tour last year, the report said.
Kylie first became involved with BA in December 2000 when she turned on the lights at the London Eye, operated by the airline.
Now BA has turned again to one of the biggest names in showbiz as bosses seek to give the firm a lift, the report noted.
The airline industry is suffering financial problems due to Middle East conflict, SARS and the weak global economy. But BA hopes Kylie will help pull in the punters when she launches the airline's Tropical Beaches brochure in Covent Garden, Central London, on Tuesday, the report added.
