Mumbai, Feb 03: Mumbai Police today announced a reward of Rs one lakh to anyone who could provide vital clues leading to the arrest of the accused involved in the blast at Vile Parle on January 27. Speaking to reporters here, Commissioner R S Sharma said police had been able to track the approximate time the bicycles, laden with explosives, were placed at the spot.

The explosion had left 30 persons injured. Another bomb detected nearby was, however, defused by the bomb squad. Sharma said that the first cycle was placed at 6.30 pm and the next at around 7.15 pm. ”However, we are now keen to find out who placed the cycles at the spot,” he added.

He said both the cycles had double-piped handle and the design of a cockroach embossed on them and the police was trying to trace their owners. He also urged the general public to be alert and report about any unclaimed baggage or suspicious objects. Police also have several personnel, besides the bomb disposal squad, who have undergone training in detection of explosives.
