Dehradun, Sept 09: The Uttaranchal Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) today announced its new power tariffs slashing the previous ones by 20 to 30 percent both for the industrial and domestic consumers.
The UERC also fixed uniform tariff of Rs 2.10 per unit for domestic consumers and withdrew fixed monthly charges for both the domestic and commercial users.
The new power rates will be effective from Sept 20.
Announcing the new tariffs at a press conference here, Divakar Dev, chairman of the UERC, said the tariffs for industrial consumers have also been lowered where by consumers on low tension (LT) supply will now pay a lower rate of Rs 2.45 per unit in addition to the fixed charge while on high tension (HT), the rates have been pegged at 1.90 per unit plus lower fixed charges. "Basically, the transmission losses on ht supply are less and hence we have lowered the tariff rates on ht," he said.
He said in a new mechanism, hospitals, educational and charitable organisations have been bracketed in one category which will have to pay a lower rate of Rs 3 per unit. Other commercial consumers the rate will be rs 3.50 per unit, headed.
