Gardermoen Raceway, Aug 05: Andy Carter escapes serious injury at latest round of European Drag Racing championships.
Micke Kagered of Sweden went ahead of Smax Smith in the European Top Fuel championship when he beat Tommy Moller in Sunday's final. Briton Smith was eliminated in round one when he lost to Moller. Kagered, who now leads Smith by nineteen points, was unable to complete the 2002 season and finished sixth overall after he lost his dragster in a spectacular crash. Earlier in the Top Fuel event, Britain's Andy Carter was lucky to escape without serious injury when his dragster crashed and broke in two. Ers Erbacher continued to dominate the Top Methanol Funny Car. The Swiss driver maintained his unbeaten record over the weekend to finish 152 points clear at the top of the overall championship standings. It will be very hard for anyone to overtake Erbacher. He has raised a few eyebrows in the sport, particularly as Switzerland doesn't have its own motor sports infrastructure.

Hakan Nilsson was another winner. The Swede is now in a very strong position to take the NDRS Pro Modified Championship.

Another Swede is dominating the FIM/UEM European Drag Bike Championships. Roger Petterson set another European record over the weekend as he rode to victory on his Suzuki Pro Stock Bike to extend his clear lead in the Pro Stock Bikes class.

Roel Koedam of the Netherlands virtually clinched the FIM/UEM Top Fuel Bike Championship with a spectacular performance running times of 6.228 seconds.
