Jodhpur, July 02: The former princely family of Jodhpur has come out in support of the BJP in the coming assembly elections in Rajasthan. Symbolising its support, former MP Rajmata Krishana Kumari of Jodhpur Raj Gharana distributed "Peela Chawal" (rice coloured in turmeric) at a meeting of women's organisations held to support "Parivartan Yatra" led by Vasundhra Raje here yesterday.
The distribution of 'Peela Chawal' in these parts of the land is a traditional way of welcoming honoured guests.
During the previous bjp rule in the state, former ruler of Jodhpur Gaj Singh was made a member of Rajya Sabha. During the Janata regime, Singh was made ambassador to Trinidad.
In 1989 when Jaswant Singh 'Jasole' contested elections for the Jodhpur parliamentary segment, the Raj Gharana came forward openly in support of him and the congress candidate Ashok Gehlot was defeated.
