Lucknow, Nov 03: Uttar Pradesh Tourism Minister Naresh Agarwal today said Garh Mukteshwar would be developed on the lines of Haridwar to attract a large number of tourists and pilgrims in the state. Speaking at a meeting of the officers of state tourism department here, he said the religious sentiments of pilgrims would be taken into consideration while developing Garh Mukteswar situated on the banks of the holy Ganga.
Agarwal directed the officers to coordinate with the officers of the Centre, state irrigation department and neighbouring states in developing Garh Mukteshwar as an attractive tourists spot.
He said a draft plan has already been sent to the Centre for its approval for the development of Garh Mukteshwar. About Rs 1000 crore would have to be spent on development of the Garh.
The minister said he had requested the Union Tourism Minister Jagmohan to convene a separate meeting to discuss the ways and means for developing tourism in Uttar Pradesh. Bureau Report
