Srinagar, Sept 29: One person was killed and 10 injured on Sunday when militants hurled a grenade and opened fire at a police vehicle near the town of Darl in Kashmir, police said. Among the injured was a police officer while the person killed was a civilian, a spokesman said. Darl, about 40 kilometres south of Srinagar, is in Pulwama district, which goes to the polls Tuesday in the third of the disputed state's four rounds of legislative voting.


The latest death brings to 590 the number of people killed since Indian authorities on August 2 announced the date of the voting. Bureau Report
