Moga, July 06: Senior Akali Dal (Badal) leader Gurdyal Singh today allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his revolver, police said. Singh, 75, a former sarpanch of Baghapurana, was suffering from cancer, according to his granddaughter Navdeep Kaur. For the last one week he was in deep depression, and today at about noon, he bolted his room and killed himself, Kaur said. Kaur informed police who after registering an FIR sent the body for postmortem.
Several Akali leaders, including former Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, have expressed condolence over Singh's death. Bureau Report
