Islamabad, Aug 04: Dispelling the impression that it was joining the government, Pakistan's six party religious alliance has said it has not changed its stance on Pervez Musharraf's controversial constitutional amendements but wanted the president to go in an "honourable way". "The alliance has no plans to join the government. We would have joined the government at the formation of parliament, when we were offered deputy prime ministership, National Assembly Speaker slot and senate chairmanship," Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) central president Shah Ahmad Noorani was quoted as saying by 'The News' daily. Noorani said first Musharraf wanted to remain in uniform as long he was president, then for three years and later for two years but how the period had been reduced to one year. NHRC issues notice to AP govt on bonded children New Delhi, Aug 04: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued a notice to the Andhra Pradesh government seeking a response into a reports of bonded children working in Nellore units. Taking suo motu cognizance of a newspaper item "4 bonded children freed from Nellore units", the commission issued a notice to the state seeking a report into the matter.
According to the news report, four children, including one girl, were rescued from sweetmeat units in the state.
