Mumbai, Apr 01: An extortionist, owing allegiance to underworld don Chhota Rajan, was arrested on charges of demanding Rs 25 lakh from a businessman at Nagpada in central Mumbai yesterday, police said today.
The accused rang up the trader and threatened him of dire consequences if he failed to pay up the money, police said.

He subsequently agreed to accept Rs 10 lakh, police said.

The businessman registered a complaint with the anti extortion cell who laid a trap and nabbed the accused when he arrived at a pre-determined spot to collect the first installment of Rs two lakh.

The accused confessed that he worked for Rajan gang and collected money with the help of another associate, who is still absconding, police said.
