Chandigarh, May 30: A local court today extended the judicial custody of Jalandhar district and sessions judge R M Gupta allegedly involved in a graft case till June 12. Special Judge Balbeer Singh handed down the order in the lower court here. Gupta, who was arrested on May nine, was in judicial custody till today. While Gupta was arrested, Chandigarh judicial magistrate (first class) S S Bhardwaj who allegedly acted as a conduit of Gupta in the graft case is on run. On a tip off of a Kartarpur-based medical practitioner Gurvinder Singh Samra, the CBI had caught Bhardwaj while allegedly accepting illegal gratification to the tune of Rs seven lakh from his residence here on May nine. However, Bhardwaj managed to give a slip to CBI sleuths the same night. Bureau Report
