Mumbai, July 06: The coast guards have recovered two AK 47 rifles left in an unmanned and abandoned ship 'al Murtada' near Ratnagiri coast, coast guard sources said here today. The ship, sighted about 170 km off Ratnagiri coast at 8pm on July three, has since been anchored about eight km south west of Devgarh, sources said. Further drifting of the ship could have resulted in its wreaking at Devgarh coast and also create potential environmental hazard, the sources said. After the ship was sighted and international safety net message passed, the coast guard ship Vijaya was sailed to investigate.
Coast guard is yet to ascertain the ownership detail of the vessel, sources said, adding the +incident is definitely unprecedented in recent past.
Coast guard authorities have also approached director general, shipping, to assist for further investigation.
