The CPI-M on Saturday dismissed the Prime Minister's address to the nation as self-adulation and diversionary tactics and said the intent of ordering a probe by a sitting or retired supreme court judge was nothing but an eyewash. In a statement in Bangalore, the party polit bureau also said that the Prime Minister's appeal for a debate in parliament was unacceptable given the government'' obstinate stance and determination to defend the culprits.
It said that the Vajpayee government was trying to buy time and using delaying tactics to bail out of the crisis. Having lost credibility and the moral authority to govern the country, the entire Vajpayee government must quit. Nothing less is acceptable to the people of the country.
