New Delhi, July 08: Security agencies in the Capital spent a couple of sleepless nights after two cops decamped with arms and ammunition and an official wireless over which confidential and vital messages, particularly movement of highly-threatened VVIPs, are flashed. One of them head constable Kalu Ram was arrested from Gurgaon in Haryana today and a revolver, its five rounds, a wireless set and an official motorcycle stolen by them were recovered, police sources said, adding that Kalu Ram was suspended.
Kalu Ram was posted at Tughlak Road police station and constable Mukesh Meena posted at Tilak Marg police station in New Delhi district. They went missing while on patrol duty on the night of July 5 in the high security areas where residences of ministers and MPs are situated, they said.
The two fled together at around 10.30 pm for reasons still unknown, the sources said, adding they took alongwith them a revolver, its five live cartridges, a wireless set and official motorcycle.
Meena is absconding and efforts were on to trace him. Kalu is yet to be questioned as he was nabbed in an inebriated condition and was not in a position to respond, the sources said. Bureau Report
