Flooding, landslide kill 17 in Xinjiang
Beijing, June 06: At least 17 people were killed and six reported missing in floods and landslides caused by overnight torrential rainstorm in the Ili river valley in northwest of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, an official report said today.

report said today.
The highway between Gongliu county and Tekes county was
washed away in four places, trapping over 100 cars.
Houses in the two counties, and in Nilka County, were
also damaged, the official Xinhua newsagency reported.
Rescue teams were clearing debris and traffic was again
flowing on main roads, the report said.
