Thiruvananthapuram, July 25: The alleged misappropriation of tribal sub-plan fund in Kerala continued to rock the state assembly with the CPI(M)-led opposition rushing to the well raising the issue, forcing an early adjournment of the house for the second consecutive day today. Immediately after zero hour, opposition members tried to raise the issue through a point of order and on refusal by the speaker, many of them rushed to the well and started shouting slogans demanding resignation of minister for backward and scheduled communities M A Kuttappan.
The speaker rushed through other business of the day and the house passed a resolution referring the Kerala loading and unloading (prohibition of extortion, intimidiatory or other unlawful practices) Bill, 2002 to the subject committee amid slogan shouting from opposition benches.
The opposition had been alleging that the unutilised tribal sub-plan fund for last financial year was kept by tribal officials after March 31, in gross violation of Kerala financial code.
Government had stated that an inquiry by the chief secretary into the matter was progressing and that action would be taken against officials found guilty after receipt of the report.
The house witnessed uproarious scenes yesterday with opposition members rushing to the well and resorting to slogan shouting, forcing the speaker to adjourn it, hours ahead of the day's schedule.
