Hazaribagh (Jharkhand), Jan 02: Deputy prime minister L K Advani today said that the BJP had taken a pledge to keep the nation's borders secure and embark on an all-round development of the country.
"Security and development is our pledge. With the support of the NDA allies at the Centre and the states we would see that our nation and every citizen is secure and development projects implemented," Advani told a gathering after laying foundation stones for a number of projects amounting to Rs 94 crore in Hazaribagh, the constituency of external affairs minister Yashwant Sinha. Lamenting how the "misguided youth" were indulging in reckless killings, he said such things should be stopped.

Expressing wonder as to how the previous governments had "neglected" many towns and villages in 50 years, Advani shared with the gathering his experience of the "swarna jayanti rathyatra" undertaken by him in 1997 which revealed to him the "miserable conditions" in which people of the country were forced to live.
