High level meeting to review security of President, PM
New Delhi, June 04: Security arrangements of VVIPs, including that of President A P J Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and leader of opposition Sonia Gandhi will be reviewed at a high level meeting here next week.
New Delhi, June 04: Security arrangements of VVIPs, including that of President A P J Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and leader of opposition Sonia Gandhi will be reviewed at a high level meeting here next week.
The meeting is likely to be chaired by cabinet secretary in which top officials of intelligence bureau, police and other security agencies would review the security arrangements of the VVIPs, official sources said.
The security of President Kalam, who faces a threat from militants ever since his stint in Defence Research and Development Organisation, would also be reviewed at the meeting.
Kalam is the first President of the country who faces a personal threat from militants-based in Pakistan.
The meeting has been called to prevent the "minor" security breaches that had taken place in the recent past, the sources said.
The meeting would also review the synergy between various wings of para-military forces deployed on the route for facilitation of VVIP movement, the sources said.
At present Delhi Police, CRPF, CISF and Rajasthan Armed Police were being deployed on the route.
