Dhaka, July 22: Officials from India and Bangladesh today finalised the details of the second inter-country bus service between Dhaka and Agartala expected to be launched next month. Officials sources said all issues including the route, fare and other matters relating to the introduction of Dhaka-Agartala bus service from next month were discussed and finalised in detail, official sources said.

After the talks both sides said all preparations have been complete and now the bus service between the two nations on Dhaka-Agartala route could be started any moment with the approval of the two governments. The five-member Indian team to the talks was led by transport secretary and commissioner of Tripura, D Sarkar while the chairman of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) Taimur Alam Khandaker led the host delegation.

It was decided to run the Dhaka-Agartala bus via Bhairab Bazar-Brahmanbaria-Akhaura route and the one-way fare was fixed at USD 10 dollars (aprrox INR Rs 467).

According to a protocol signed between the two countries in 2001 during the tenure of previous Awami League government, the bus from Dhaka will leave for Agartala daily but the service from the capital of Tripura state would run only on six days. Bureau Report
