Srinagar, July 24: Apprehending an increase in suicide attacks by militants in Jammu and Kashmir to "lift the morale of their cadres", Chief of Army`s Northern Command Lt Gen Hari Prasad has said the forces were gearing up to minimise casualties in such strikes which cannot be prevented. Suicide attacks "will increase... as Army has maintained relentless pressure on militants," Prasad, who was injured in one such attack on an army camp in Akhnoor on Tuesday in which eight personnel were killed, told reporters here.
"Militants are launching suicide attacks to lift the morale of their cadres which has been weakened by continuing army operation," Prasad said yesterday.
He said Army was "further strengthening the systems" to minimise or eliminate casualties in such attacks which cannot be prevented as "when a man is prepared to give up his life there is very little you can do to stop him".
"We will definitely try to bring our casualty level to zero," Prasad said.
