Shillong, Oct 22: Meghalaya government has clamped prohibitory orders within one km distance from the international boundary with Bangladesh in West Garo Hills district following reports of infiltration. The measure was taken under Section 144 CrPC after receiving reports that some persons in group or groups linked to extremist organisations or underground elements with ulterior motive were likely to infiltrate into the trouble-torn district, an official release said here today.
The prohibitory order, promulgated by the district Deputy Commissioner S Jagannathan, banned the movement of persons between 8 pm and 5 am each night in the area lying within one km distance from the international border.
West Garo Hills district is among the most troubled ones and the stronghold of the banned Achik National Volunteers' Council. Bureau Report
