Patna, Mar 11: The students of government Tibbi College and hospital today decided to suspend their agitation following an assurance from the district authority to organise a meeting with Chief Minister Rabri Devi on March 14. The acting principal of the college, Dr Ziauddin said the students had yesterday ransacked the college, set some furniture on fire and kept the staff including the principal hostage for several hours pressing for the implementation of their demands.
The students demands included a new college building, hostels, introduction of post graduate course, six months internship at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and stipend equivalent to that of MBBS students.
Ziauddin told today that situation was under control and the classes were being held as per the routine.
The students took the decision after assurance from Bihar medical education minister Dr Shakeel Ahmed to look into their grievances.
The students of GTCH, had been agitating since February, and had even blocked the busy Bailey Road on February 17.
