Bangalore, Nov 30: Abdul Karim Lala Telgi, the alleged mastermind behind the multi-crore, multi-state fake stamp paper racket, has not named any politician or policeman in the case as reported, his counsel K T Nanaiah said.
Talking to newspersons outside a fast track court here, he said Telgi had also denied that the diary, unearthed by the Maharashtra Police two years after his arrest, was written by him. He had not named 19 people in the case as reported, he added.
Nanaiah said that during the course of investigation by the fake Stamp Paper Investigation Team (STAMPIT), he had named nine people involved in the racket. ''But none of them is a politician or policeman,'' he added.
Stating that Telgi, who had tested HIV positive, was very sick, he alleged that adequate medical attention was not being provided to him.
