Bangkok, Aug 30: Indonesian government has appealed to Thai government to prevent fleeing Aceh separatist movement (GSA) leaders from entering Thailand.
"We have appealed to Thailand to prevent the GSA leaders
from entering that country," coordinating minister for
political and security affairs Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono told a
press conference here yesterday.
The GSA leaders were under increasing pressure as a result of the continuing government campaign against the rebels. It was possible they had been in constant contact with other GSA leaders in exile to flee Aceh, Susilo said.
The minister asked Thailand to help arrest the rebel leaders who had resided in that country before and after Aceh was put under military emergency status on May 19. Bureau Report
