Barcelona, July 13: Barcelona have revealed Chelsea's French defender William Gallas will not be moving to the Nou Camp. Rumours had circulated that Gallas would leave Stamford Bridge for Barcelona this summer, especially after the player launched a scathing attack on manager Claudio Ranieri.
But Barcelona vice-president Sandro Rosell told this website that Gallas will remain at Chelsea, following the takeover at Stamford Bridge by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.
Rosell told reporters: "We were in discussions over Gallas just before the Russian guy bought Chelsea.
"But it look likes it is out of the question. They have no money needs now and so far from what we have been told they will not let him leave the club."
Real Madrid midfielder Geremi and West Ham's young full-back Glen Johnson have already been acquired at a cost of nearly £15m and a £15m bid reportedly on the table for Blackburn winger Damien Duff.
On Saturday the Daily Star newspaper said Gallas was stalling on signing a new contract.
"I got confirmation about the interest from Barcelona, now their officials and my agent should have had a meeting," the France international was quoted as saying by the Daily Star.
"It will all depend on Chelsea's reinforcements, which will play in four competitions this season.
"I want to win something and I hope I can do so with Chelsea, but the door is not closed.
"The proposition from other clubs should be very attractive to me.
"I am currently on holiday and will make my decision when I get back."
